W-TCPL THANKS COMMUNITY FOR SUPPORT OF LIBRARY LEVY

(11/06/2019) - Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Director James Wilkins expressed his thanks to the community following passage of the library system’s .4 mill continuing tax levy on the Nov. 5, 2019 general election ballot. “We are very grateful to the community for supporting the library’s levy request,” Wilkins said. “We appreciate this vote of confidence in the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, and we will strive to continue to offer the relevant and innovative materials and essential services our patrons rely on,” he said. According to the Trumbull County Board of Elections unofficial results, the library levy passed by 59 percent of the vote. “So many of our library patrons have recently shared with us how important the library is to them and to their families,” Wilkins said. “We have been reminded during this process how vital the library is and how our libraries really are contributing to stronger communities.” The levy will annually generate $985,172, which will go toward increased investment in library materials including digital resources; improvements to the libraries’ facilities, HVAC systems, and technology infrastructure; and construction of additional space at the Warren Library for expanded programming for children and teens and more community meeting space. “Passage of this levy is a great reminder of our community’s passion and commitment to providing strong libraries,” said Karen Scher, Library Board of Trustees president. “It also sends a clear message that the community appreciates the important work our Friends groups, our librarians, and all of our employees do each day at the W-TCPL and that our patrons care about sustaining the library in the future,” Scher added. The Warren-Trumbull County Public Library includes libraries in Brookfield, Cortland, Howland, Liberty, Lordstown, and Warren; a Bookmobile; and Homebound Library Service.
